Following are descriptions of the Organizations and their respective re-building projects that would receive funding from the “Wave of Hope” campaign

OLD TRINITANS SPORTS CLUB – TRINITY TASK FORCE (TTF)

Trinity Task Force (TTF) was established by the Old Trinitians Sports Club with the mission of helping the people that were affected by the tsunami to move out from the refugee camps and into permanent houses in a feasible time, immaterial of race or religion. TTF has taken Sri Lankan government's approval to build 50 homes in a government controlled area called “Kutchchuveli,” which is 25 kilometers from Trincomalee , Sri Lanka.

  • The minimum number of square feet per home must be 500 Sq ft and the house must consist of three bed rooms, a dinning room, a kitchen & a toilet
  • The Roof must be made with clay tiles; use of Asbestos has been completely prohibited
  • The Cost per house made as per government specifications will be Rs. 425,000.00 ($4,250.00)

USAVE – UNIVERSITY OF PERADENIYA , SRI LANKA
“USAVE” comprise of students primarily from the University of Peradeniya who united for the cause of helping those affected by the Tsunami. More information visit www.usavesl.org
Listed below are two of the projects they are currently working on:
 
School Development Project
 
Objective

Build a library complete with necessary books and facilities at a selected secondary school which has been destroyed by the Tsunami

Action Plan

• Identify a school with the guidance of the education department and conduct an initial survey of requirements

• Start collection of books for the library

• Draw up a suitable architectural plan for the library building and estimate the cost of construction

• Find sponsors for library building

• Start construction and make every effort to complete within the specified time limit

 

Housing Project

 

Objective

Build 20 houses and also develop infrastructure of a selected village which has been destroyed by the Tsunami

Action Plan

• Have a transparent financial system which would enable maximum utilization of the resources available

• Provide monthly email reports to all the donors about the progress of the projects

• Identify an area with the guidance of the government and conduct an initial survey

• Draw up the architectural plan which would suit that area

• Estimate the cost of construction and draw up the detailed budget

• Find sponsors for the housing units

• Start construction and make every effort to complete within the specified time limit

 

Note: “Wave of Hope” is not affiliated with any religious, political or social organization and is solely a student campaign dedicated towards the Tsunami relief efforts in Sri Lanka . The entire proceeds generated by the “Wave of Hope” campaign will be donated towards the rebuilding efforts in Sri Lanka . There are no administrative costs or other costs associated with the “Wave of Hope” Campaign. All the efforts by the students and others are voluntary
